Malama Beach
Around a 6-7 minute walk from the villa is Malama Beach. Tucked away on the eastern coast of Cyprus, Malama Beach is one of those places that feels like a quiet secret passed between friends. It’s not one of the island’s larger or louder beaches, but that’s actually what gives it such a peaceful charm. The beach is small, intimate, and incredibly scenic, with soft golden sand that warms your feet and calm turquoise waters that seem to invite you in the moment you arrive. Unlike the busier beaches in Protaras or Ayia Napa, Malama holds onto a slower, more personal rhythm that makes it feel almost like your own private retreat.
The water here is crystal clear and often so still that it resembles a glassy lagoon. It’s a favourite for families with young children, thanks to its sheltered position and shallow entry into the sea. Snorkelling is a great way to pass the time, as the clarity of the water lets you catch glimpses of small fish and interesting rock formations just beneath the surface. If you’re more into soaking up the sun, there are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, and the beach is kept clean and well-organized without ever feeling overdeveloped. There’s a gentle breeze most days, and the air smells of salt and the faint scent of sunscreen.
One of the nicest touches is the beach café just steps from the shore, where you can grab a cold drink, an ice cream, or a quick bite without wandering far. It’s simple and relaxed, just like everything else about this place. Public restrooms are nearby too, which is always a plus if you’re planning to settle in for a few hours. If you're feeling a little more adventurous, there’s a coastal path leading to nearby coves and cliffs, offering beautiful views and a bit of quiet exploration. It's a great spot to just wander and soak in the natural beauty without a strict plan.
Kapparis, the village that surrounds the beach, is more residential than touristy, which helps keep the area peaceful even in the busier summer months. It’s not the place for nightclubs or beach parties, but it’s perfect if you’re looking for a slower pace and some time to truly unwind. You’ll see a few locals walking their dogs or enjoying a sunset swim, and the atmosphere feels warm and welcoming in a very unforced way.
The sunsets at Malama Beach are something else. As the day winds down, the sky lights up in soft pinks and oranges, casting a golden glow over the water and creating a moment that feels timeless. It’s the kind of view that makes you put your phone down and just be present. Whether you’re there with someone you love, by yourself, or with your kids splashing in the shallows, Malama offers something that’s hard to find these days, real, simple, beautiful calm. And honestly, that might be what makes it so unforgettable.
